The Basics, Then The Details

There are six basic steps in the process, but further details can be found below, and by clicking on "packing guidelines". Please make sure you read both pages completely before scheduling your appointment.
Step 1: Signing up for our service and an appointment
Once basic contact information is provided, the you are able to sign up for a pickup time through the website. Our proprietary system allows you to select your current location (categorized by residence hall name, major apartment complexes, and general off-campus), select the date you wish to have the items picked up, and finally select a convenient 2-hour arrival window for our movers to arrive. These time windows typically begin at 10:00am-12:00pm, and end at 8:00pm-10:00pm during the busiest days of finals/move-out week.
No payment, deposit, or credit card information is required to sign up for storage; payments are made during the summer by check or online payment depending upon the individual student's convenience.
Step 2: On campus delivery of empty boxes and packing supplies
During the weeks leading up to move-out week, Guys and Dollies hand-delivers boxes at each of the residence halls and to individuals living in off campus houses or apartments. Our movers rotate to each residence hall for several 30 minute blocks to distribute boxes, tape, and bubble wrap to students using the service. This schedule is posted at GuysAndDollies.com by clicking on "need empty boxes", and provides 2-3 options for every location each weekend. Students who cannot come to those selected times can also make a custom "Box Request" on our website. Once requested, the student will receive a call from our movers to schedule a convenient time for their empty box delivery.
Step 3: Packing boxes and labeling items
Customers pack their belongings into boxes and label all items they wish to store. Packing guidelines are available by clicking on the button to the left. Additional labels will be provided for items that do not fit into boxes. If there are 5 total items, each item will have a specific number (for example - Item 1 of 5, 2 of 5 etc). Students are not expected to disassemble items or fret about the quality of their packing job. If boxes need to be more securely sealed or labels are improperly attached, our movers will apply additional tape and fix all necessary labels, free of charge.
Step 4: Wait in room for our movers to arrive
Once a customer's 2-hour time window arrives, movers will call to meet in the front of the building and be led up to their room. While in-room, items are invoiced, labeled, and recorded accordingly. All items are listed on an invoice with the associated prices per item and total cost for the service. Our movers will then review each item on the invoice with the customer to ensure that no inclusions or omissions exist. The student is then given a carbon copy of this invoice detailing all the items in storage. The items will then be loaded onto dollies and taken into storage. No payment is required at this time.
Step 5: Payment by check or credit card
Payment can be made online by credit card, check by mail, or cash on delivery. For security purposes, Guys and Dollies uses PayPal for credit card processing and holds no customer card information on the company website. You do not need to be a PayPal user to make a payment. Once payment is made, an email confirmation is sent detailing the invoice total and an itemized list of all items paid for with their associated prices.
Step 6: Schedule your delivery
Over the summer the online scheduling system will be reset to include August delivery dates and times. By following the same instructions for pick-up, customers log into their GuysAndDollies.com account, update their new location, and schedule a convenient 2-hour time window for our movers to arrive. If you do not see a convenient day or time listed, call or email us and we'll schedule a custom time.
